Dublin AIDS Alliance scoops 2013 GALA

At the fourth annual Gay and Lesbian Awards (GALAs), which took place in the Westin Hotel on 23rd February 2013, Dublin AIDS Alliance won the Noel Walsh HIV Campaigner of the Year award. Picking up the award for DAA, Acting Executive Director Erin Nugent commented that the award was particularly meaningful to staff and volunteers as DAA celebrated its 25th Anniversary last year.
Other nominess in the category included Alternative Miss Ireland, who have supported the work of DAA over many years, and Jimmy Goulding, a long-time HIV activist who won the award in 2010.
The GALAs were set up by the National Lesbian and Gay Federation (NLGF) to honour LGBT people and organisations for their contributions to Irish society, both north and south of the border. DAA would like to thank the NLGF, the GALAs committee, those who nominated DAA for this award, and all our supporters and volunteers over 25 years of working to improve the lives of people living with HIV in Ireland.
