Dublin AIDS Alliance has called on the Government to
develop a national sexual health strategy in recommendations presented to
the Dáil as part of the Irish AIDS Day campaign for 2005. |

|
Over 150 people marched through the streets of Dublin on
Wednesday 15th June in support of the campaign. "No Condom, No
Way" was the message of the marchers, who marched from the Garden of
Remembrance in Parnell Square to Dáil Éireann. |
|
|
|
|
The DAA also called on the Government to reinvest in
prevention and to make condoms freely available in places where young
people congregate. |
|
| Ann Nolan, Executive Director of
Dublin AIDS Alliance stated that "Sex and sexuality is a normal and
healthy aspect of life, and sexual health should be forming a core part of
our overall promotion of health and wellbeing". |

| The campaign was supported by
Labour Health spokeswoman Liz McManus who called on the Government to
commit to a renewed information campaign on all sexually transmitted
diseases. |

| The campaign was further supported
by Independent T.D.s Finian McGrath and Catherine Murphy, Labour T.D.
Michael D. Higgins, Progressive Democrat T.D. Fiona O'Malley, and Green
Party T.D.s Trevor Sargent and John Gormley. |

MAC AIDS Fund Presentation - 22nd June 2005
Linda Evangelista, a spokeswoman and ambassador for the MAC
AIDS Fund, presented a cheque to Ann Nolan, Executive Director of Dublin AIDS
Alliance, for E20,000 on behalf of the cosmetics company's AIDS Fund, at an
event in the Brown Thomas department store.
"This is the most fulfilling thing I have ever
done", said Ms Evangelista. She added it was "vital to raise
awareness on a global level", as the vast majority of those living with HIV
are unaware that they are infected and so continue to spread the disease.
Executive Director of Dublin AIDS Alliance, Ann Nolan, said it
was "hugely important to have such a globally public figure"
supporting the campaign as it "eliminates the stigma attached to HIV".
As part of the campaign, the entire purchase price of MAC Viva
Glam lipstick will go directly to the MAC AIDS Fund which helps those infected
with an AIDS-related illness.
World AIDS Day - 1st December 2005
