HIV became a notifiable infection in September 2011. This means that when a person is given a positive HIV diagnosis, a confidential form will now be completed by a healthcare worker. This form will then be submitted to the Director of Public Health/Medical Officer of Health for that area.
To mark World AIDS Day, the Gay Health Network (GHN), in partnership with the HSE, launched the1st ever National HIV Prevention and Sexual Health Awareness Programme for men who have sex with men (MSM). ‘Protect Yourself – We’re Worth Protecting’ is the 1st of 4 phases.
World AIDS Day on December 1st will be marked in Dublin with the lighting up in red of the Mansion House at 7a.m. as a symbol of solidarity with people all over the world who are living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.
